Arts and culture are essential elements of our society and have the ability to transform and illustrate our cultural values and norms. However, communities of color, including immigrants, experience vast disparities in access to arts education and artist promotion. As a result of these disparities, artists from marginalized communities have had limited opportunities in this space. Issues of gender, age and disability also have created limited access. Historically art institutions, both consciously and unconsciously, have been impacted by racism and other forms of discrimination. All communities are worthy of equal access and all artists deserve the opportunity to have their art supported, presented and experienced.

Art Center Waco dedicates itself to equitable access to arts education for the entire community of McLennan County and beyond. In addition, Art Center Waco supports all arts and artists, with special attention given to artists from historically underserved communities.
