This, That, or The Other: Emerging Trends and Vernacular in Photography, is a juried exhibition from the Society for Photographic Education, South Central (SPESC), hosted by the Art Center of Waco in conjunction with the SPESC annual conference. The exhibition will be on display at the Cultivate 7Twelve, 712 Austin Ave, from October 14-29. The conference is jointly hosted by Baylor University and Tarleton State University's Waco campus at MCC. Both the exhibition and the conference address the way lens-based artists are incorporating new technology and methodologies while finding new ways to embrace and define the traditional foundations of photography. It is estimated over 1.8 billion images are uploaded to the internet daily. We are living in a time when family snapshots are no longer relegated to family albums, but are publicly shared and disseminated. The exhibit will embody how the common language of imagery is changing in the 21st century.
