About the Art Expedition Mobile Gallery

After two successful years of the Art Expedition mobile Art Gallery, The Art Center is preparing for another year of sharing quality artwork with the community in Waco and surrounding areas through this innovative educational program.

The gallery visits Waco and surrounding area schools as well as Waco arts and cultural events.

We are seeking artworks to include in the 3rd annual exhibition for the gallery, this year with a theme of “Growth.” New for this year, our primary guideline is that submissions come only from K-12 educators of any subject.

The exhibit is be de-installed, stored safely during transit, and re-installed before each visit, to ensure the safety of the artworks. The trailer is climate controlled and wheelchair accessible.

Notification begins: August 15 , 2019         
Accepted work due: September 15, 2019
Exhibition dates: October 1, 2019 - May 30, 2020

Return works begins: June 1, 2020

About the Juror

Rachel Rogerson is the Executive Director of the MAC in Dallas. She holds a masters in Museum and Gallery Studies from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland and a BFA in Sculpture from the University of North Texas. Prior to The MAC, Rogerson was Curator of Exhibitions at Gregg County Historical Museum in Longview, Texas. During her tenure at the MAC, Rachel has continued to advance the institution’s mission as an advocate for creative freedom by providing innovative programming, and overseen the renovation of a major new facility in Dallas’s Cedars neighboorhood. Recent projects include New Urban Landscape, a series of site-specific installations presented in The MAC’s raw warehouse space.

Guidelines

Eligibility: Open to K-12 Educators, all subjects welcome. Entrants must be employed teaching K-12 within the last year.

  • Entry fee: $22 for up to three entries (Claire- Payment options? )         

  • Entry fees are nonrefundable

  • 2-D works that are ready to hang (including a secure hanging system) with dimensions no larger than 24 inches in any direction, as well as 3-D works no larger than 10” horizontally or 18” vertically, no heavier than 10 lbs.

  • No work that requires electricity.

  • Submitted work must have been produced in the last two years.

  • The artwork must be age appropriate for school children.

  • Accepted work must remain on view in the gallery until the close of the exhibition.

  • No substitution for accepted artworks. Work that does not match submitted images may not be included in the exhibition.

  • The artwork entered should be prepared for professional display and not so fragile as to be potentially dangerous to the work or others when shipped/displayed/handled with reasonable care.

  • Artist is responsible for shipping work to and from ACW. Prepaid return shipping must accompany artwork upon delivery to the ACW. If return arrangements are not made, artwork becomes property of the ACW one month after the exhibition closes.

  • Artwork will be insured while with the ACW, artist is responsible for insuring work during transit to and from ACW.

  • Images of accepted work may be used for promotional purposes.

  • By submitting artwork the artist acknowledges that artwork may experience wear as it travels with the trailer to and from events and schools throughout the course of the exhibit.
